Posters played an important role in World War I.  Not only were they visually stunning and capitvating, but they were also skillfully crafted to communicate provactive messages and inspire and inform their audiences.  Representing the precursor to World War II propaganda, these posters transformed communication and persuaded Americans to support the war effort in the United States.
